Kylie Jenner made for a head-turner in a vintage Thierry Mugler dress from the 90s
Kylie Jenner charmed in a black Thierry Mugler dress from the 1995 autumn/winter couture collection for the opening of the "Thierry Mugler: Couturissime" exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum.
There seems to be no end to the popularity of vintage designer pieces this season. Particularly on the red carpet, fashion lovers like to opt for nostalgic individual pieces from the archives. From Jennifer Aniston, who wore a John Galliano secondhand dress at the 2020 SAG Awards, to Dua Lipa, who opted for a shackle-inspired dress from Versace's 1992 autumn/winter collection at the 2022 Grammys, to model Adut Akech in a Christian Lacroix couture gown from autumn/winter 2003 - they all opted for sustainable dress choices and thus presented a piece of fashion history. Lately, Kylie Jenner in particular seems to be interested in vintage clothing. In the summer, she opted for the rare Comme de Garçons set, while at the last CFDA Awards, she made for an eye-catcher with a Thierry Mugler dress from the 90s. Of course, the beauty mogul also opted for a unique piece from the iconic designer of the same name at the opening of the "Thierry Mugler: Couturissime" exhibition at the Brooklyn Museum on Tuesday night.
Kylie Jenner presented an iconic vintage dress by Thierry Mugler from the '90s
Jenner opted for a black dress from Mugler's autumn/winter 1995 couture collection for the opening, which featured the designer's signature winged neckline and feathered fishtail skirt. For added drama, she teamed the dress with matching feather gloves and a dazzling headdress from the 1999 Autumn/Winter collection.
Of course, Kylie Jenner is not the only Mugler fan in her family, as her sister Kim Kardashian also maintained a close relationship with the designer before he passed away earlier this year. The star wore a custom-made, crystal-studded latex dress by the designer to the 2019 Met Gala, as well as a daring cut-out dress from Mugler's 1998 spring/summer collection. Given the Kardashian-Jenner family's love of vintage one-offs, we wouldn't be surprised if Kylie has already added more trophies by Mugler to her collection after last night's event.
