About Dwayne The Rock Johnson

Dwayne "The Rock" Douglas Johnson is an American wrestler, singer and film actor, known by his aliases: The Rock, The People's Champion, The Great One, Holy Bull and Rocky.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, known under the alias The Rock, is considered one of the best wrestlers in the ring in the history of the World Wrestling Federation (WWE) and one of the most in-demand actors in Hollywood. Johnson's name is listed in the Guinness Book of World Records as the highest grossing actor for his first starring role in The Scorpion King ($5.5 million). He has more than fifty films to his credit. Among them: "Amazon Treasure," "San Andreas Fault," "Jumanji" and "Fast and Furious.

CHILDREN. ADOLESCENCE. FOOTBALL

Dwayne "The Rock" Douglas Johnson was born on May 2, 1972 in Hayward, California to a family where everyone was a professional wrestler. His father, Soulman Rocky Johnson, a Black Scotsman by birth, was a world champion team wrestler. His mother, Ata Maivia, a Polynesian from Samoa, was her husband's promoter and his grandmother, Leah Maivia, was head of the Women's Wrestling League in Polynesia from 1982 to 1988.

Johnson's family moved to New Zealand in 1974, then to Hawaii, and it wasn't until he turned 16 that they settled in Pennsylvania, in the town of Bethlehem. Due to the frequent moves, Duane had to change 14 schools. It's hard to imagine, but at many schools the future wrestling champion was subjected to ridicule and bullying, just like any newcomer. He never started fights first, but he had to fight.

At some point the Johnson family had to go through some tough times. The wrestler vividly remembers how in 1987, his parents didn't have enough money to pay their rent in Honolulu, and they were literally evicted to the street. Johnson's father, took any job to support the family and was rarely home. Eventually, when Dwayne "The Rock" was fourteen, his parents divorced. They had to count every penny. Due to the harsh circumstances of life, the teenager became increasingly embittered, often quarreling with his mother, and school fights led to police crackdowns. He was at one time a member of the Waikiki gang, robbing shops and jewellers, but stopped in time and opted for professional sports. He was determined that in the future he would earn enough money to never be in need again.

From an early age, Johnson's father took his son with him to competitions and training. When the family settled in Pennsylvania, the younger Johnson took up American football in high school and soon enough became a celebrity in the state. In addition to football he became seriously interested in wrestling and athletics. Several universities offered him tuition and a scholarship, keen to get themselves a promising athlete. He chose the University of Miami. Becoming a member of the Miami Hurricanes university team, he appeared in 39 games but was never in the starting line-up. With the team, Johnson won the 1991 NCAA Collegiate Championship.

After graduating from university with a degree in criminology and psychology in 1995, Johnson signed a three-year contract with the Calgary Stampeders of the Canadian Football League. However, after playing one season, he was forced to retire from football due to a serious back injury. Deprived of prospects, with seven dollars in his pocket, the athlete found himself at a crossroads. Then he jumped at the only way to stay afloat was to take up wrestling. He contacted his father and asked him to boost his connections in the sports world. And Seven Dollars was so ingrained in the athlete's memory that he later named his production company Seven Bucks Productions.

RESTLING

The future star's father was reluctant to help his son. After forty years in wrestling, he became convinced that the sport wasn't going to make much money. During his sporting life, he only managed to buy a small flat in Tampa, where his son came to build a career in the ring.

Junior Johnson since the fall of 1996, absolutely unprepared for the fight (even had to borrow shorts from his uncle), began to appear in World Wrestling Entertainment Survivor under the pseudonym of Rocky Maivia (he combined father's name and mother's last name). In 1999, just two years after he joined the Federation, he won the WWF title and gained a new alias - The Rock.

Having received his first substantial royalties, Johnson bought a house for his mother, provided a good sum of money for his father, and then fulfilled his childhood dream - bought the famous Rolex watch.

At 196 centimetres tall and 118 kilograms, the Rock's biceps measured 53 cm at the height of his peak. He was able to bench-press a 105 kg barbell 33 times. He developed four signature finishing holds and seven crowning kicks.

Johnson has won the world wrestling championships several times and twice in intercontinental competition. In addition to his personal achievements, he also boasts excellent teamwork skills, as his teams have won the WWF Tag Team Championship five times. His most memorable team partnership was with Mick Foley, which earned him many wins and the love of the fans.

Until 2004, Johnson's main occupation was wrestling, with less and less frequent appearances thereafter. And on August 3, 2019, The Rock officially announced the end of his wrestling career.

The idea of starring in films was not born out of the blue. The athlete had been thinking about it since his youth. The more so, and the experience he had - in 1999 he played his own father in the teen series "70's Show", and striking examples before his eyes - Mickey Rourke, for example, or Johnson's regular rival in the ring Hulk Hogan.

In 2000, after the release of his autobiographical book "The Rock Says", which topped the New York Times bestseller list, Johnson was offered a small role in the film "The Mummy Returns". From then on, he had a more successful film career than in sports.

CINEMA

For his role as the fictional Scorpion King, Metayas Johnson received a hefty fee, critical acclaim and new invitations to film.

In the following years, he played a large number of action roles, including Faster Than a Bullet (2010) and Snitch (2012), but Johnson's international fame was brought by his participation in the fifth series of the crime thriller Fast and Furious (2011). Screenwriter Chris Morgan specifically rewrote the role of Agent Luke Hobbs for Johnson, so viewers could enjoy the sight of both his and lead actor Vin Diesel's pumped-up muscles.

In addition to performing the role of the noble action hero, Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has shown himself as a great comedian, starring in the films "Game Plan" (2007), "The Tooth Fairy" (2010) and "Blood and Sweat: Anabolics" (2013).

In 2012, the actor's filmography was expanded with the two-hour documentary The Epic Adventure of Dwayne "The Rock" Rock Johnson, directed by Kevin Dunne.

In 2014, audiences saw Johnson starring in Brett Ratner's action-adventure film Hercules. The actor rode to the Berlin premiere of the film on horseback. He was joined by Irina Shayk and Rebecca Ferguson in the film.

At the 2015 launch of director Brad Peyton's disaster film The San Andreas Fault, Johnson, who played the lead helicopter pilot, took so many selfies with fans that he made it back into the Guinness Book of World Records. He arrived at the premiere of the film at the TCL Chinese Theatre in Hollywood in a fire engine.

In the spring of 2015, Fast and Furious 7 was released, and then Johnson was invited to star in the sequel to the popular sci-fi film Jumanji (the film was released in Russia in 2017).

In 2016, as many as four projects with the actor appeared on the screens. One of them was the comedy One and a Half a Spy. In this film, the story of Johnson's character, Agent Bob Stone, resembles the story of the wrestler himself growing up. The role of his unsportsmanlike buddy is played by Kevin Hart. Another project, the musical Moana, is notable because the former wrestler there sings in a falsetto, as Polynesian men do.

Since 2017, when Fast and Furious 8 came out, Agent Luke Hobbs has increasingly come to the forefront. In August 2019, a spin-off about the character, Fast and Furious: Hobbes and Shaw, began screening, featuring British actor Jason Statham in addition to Johnson.

In the summer of 2017, the actor appeared in the title role in the film version of the popular American TV series Baywatch. His partners in the film were Zac Efron, Alexandra Daddario, Priyanka Chopra and Kelly Rohrbach.

In April 2018, the sci-fi disaster film Rampage (an adaptation of the popular '80s video game Rampage) about animal experimentation, in which the actor appeared as a primatologist, was released. In July of the same year, audiences could see him in the action film Skyscraper.

Forbes has revealed that Johnson has become the highest paid actor in the world at the end of 2018.

The actor starred as DC Comics supervillain Black Adam in 2019 and has agreed to his continued involvement in the filming of the franchise. The action film Black Adam is due to be released in 2022.

The action thriller Fast and Furious 9 was expected to be released in May 2020, but due to a coronovirus pandemic the premiere was postponed until 2021. John Cena has been added to the cast of the franchise.

In addition, the adventure films Jungle Cruise starring Emily Blunt and Red Notice, in which Johnson plays an Interpol agent, are expected to be released in 2021. The phrase "red notice" (red notice) is used by Interpol when the organisation sends out an international request for the arrest of particularly dangerous criminals. This criminal is played by Ryan Reynolds in the film.

Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson has not only acted in films, but also in music videos. One of his first works was in the music video for the song "It Doesn't Matter" by Wyclef Jean, released in 2000.

After Johnson's acting career took off, he briefly tried to distance himself from his athletic past and avoided showing off his tattoos and muscle on camera, but once said:

"I LIKE TO GO TO THE GYM, DRIVE A TRUCK AND MAYBE I DON'T WANT TO LIVE IN HOLLYWOOD! I DON'T WANT TO WEAR A SUIT. I LOVE WRESTLING AND CONNECTING WITH THE FANS, EVEN IF I'M NOT COMPETING ANYMORE.

PERSONAL LIFE

Due to the fact that Johnson has the appearance of a superstar, he has a lot of female fans, but he is not involved in any love scandals and is not known for cheating. There are only two known women in his personal life.

With his first wife, Cuban Danny Garcia, he met during his university years in Miami. Seven years later, in 1997, they married and in 2001 the couple had a daughter, Simon Alexandra. But in June 2007, Dani and Dwayne "The Rock" made an official announcement of their divorce. Simone stayed with her mother. Johnson pays $22,000 a month for his daughter's daily expenses, not counting the five thousand he set aside for her education. Despite the separation, the couple maintain an amicable relationship, with the ex-wife occasionally acting as a producer for Johnson's projects.

Shortly after the divorce, the actor began appearing at social events with singer of Armenian descent Lauren Hashian. They had a daughter Jasmine in 2015 and Tiana in 2018. In August 2019, they got married in Hawaii. Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson cherishes his family and regularly posts photos of them together on Instagram.

Actor Arnold Schwarzenegger is a good friend of Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. On his Instagram page, Johnson admitted that since he was a child, Arnold has been his idol and when he first started his career in Hollywood, Schwarzenegger supported him in many ways.

The number of followers on the actor and wrestler's Instagram page has surpassed 150 million and more than 13 million on Twitter.

Johnson sleeps just three to five hours a night and always wakes up before sunrise to plan his day, meditate and work out while everyone else is asleep.

HE EATS 5,000 CALORIES A DAY TO MAINTAIN HIS IMPRESSIVE PHYSICAL FITNESS. HE SITS DOWN AT THE TABLE SEVEN TIMES A DAY, EATING 1 KILO OF COD, EGGS, STEAK, CHICKEN, VEGETABLES AND POTATOES. HE ESTIMATES THAT HE DEVOURS ⅓ TONNES OF FISH IN A YEAR.

Johnson does not drive a limousine or a sports car, as is customary among Hollywood actors, but prefers an old Ford truck.

The fact that the athlete remains in great physical shape confirms the story that happened to the actor in September 2020. He was in a hurry for another shoot, but couldn't get out because the garage gate got jammed due to a power outage. To avoid wasting time fixing the gate and making his colleagues wait for him, Johnson ripped out the gate and proceeded unhindered to the set. Next time, the actor later said, he would jump over and catch a taxi.

In 2020, Johnson underwent a severe ordeal as he suffered a coronavirus infection along with family members.
